Kinez App

How we developed iOS/Android applications for a prosthetic leg.
Kinez is a Skolkovo resident company that designs advanced prosthetic legs. Inside the prosthesis, a pneumatic unit is controlled by a microcontroller. To ensure maximum convenience, we connected all functions through a mobile application — unlike competitors who relied on remote controls that were often lost by users.

Developed iOS/Android applications for the prosthesis.

Conducted testing

Description
  • The prosthesis uses a pneumatic block with a micromotor, managed by a microcontroller. It processes motion parameters (gyroscope, accelerometer) and adjusts the bypass valve in the pneumatic system of the knee joint. This allows the prosthesis to speed up or slow down depending on the user’s pace and body position in space.

Result
In the mobile app, we implemented:

  • Manual and automatic control modes.
  • 9 stiffness levels: from minimum (1) for fast walking to maximum (9) when standing still; in automatic mode, stiffness adapts to the walking pace.
  • Battery charge monitoring.
  • Step counter and activity tracking.
